Derek Friesen, BMR(PT)

Physiotherapist

Derek enjoys treating a variety of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, from sports and workplace injuries to motor vehicle accidents and everyday aches and pains. He has recently taken a special interest in the management of chronic pain. He was lead to the physiotherapy profession because of his passion for health and wellness which is evident in his holistic approach to treatment. Outside of work, Derek enjoys spending time outdoors, staying active by playing soccer, golf and keeping up with his two young kids. On a weekend or day off you can often find him tackling a variety of home renovation projects.

Education:

  • Graduated in 2013 from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy.

  • APTEI: Advanced Persistent Pain Certification (2019)
  • Advanced Orthopaedic Manual Physiotherapy Levels 1 and 2

Jackie Marchylo, BMR(PT)

Physiotherapist

Jackie loves being a physio and values human interaction and working with many different people on a daily basis. She finds it very rewarding to help others regain or improve their function and achieve their goals. Jackie enjoys treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal pain and injuries. She particularly enjoys working with post-operative rehabilitation patients and has a keen interest with pre/post-natal women. In her spare time, Jackie keeps busy with her family and two young boys. She enjoys living an active lifestyle and spends much of her time working out, being outdoors, biking, walking, golfing and camping. 

Education:

  • Graduated in 2009 from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy. Worked in private practice for 12 years. 

Post-Graduate:

  • Certified in Acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada in 2011
  • Advanced Orthopedic Manual and Manipulative Therapy Level 1 and 2 completed
  • Various other courses including Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), manual therapy, taping, and orthotic prescription

Jennifer Meisner, MPT

Physiotherapist

Jennifer gets excited talking about health and believes that when we move better, we feel and we live better. She loves being a physiotherapist because she enjoys working together with people of all ages and backgrounds to maximize their ability to move, getting them back to the activities they love and improving their health and wellbeing. Outside of the clinic, Jennifer believes in practicing what she preaches by being active. She enjoys strength training and all kinds of sports, particularly golfing, dodgeball and curling. Otherwise you can find her listening to podcasts, baking or starting a new craft project.

  • Graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Master’s in Physical Therapy in 2018
  • Graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in 2016

Maria Lomura, MPT

Physiotherapist

After recovering from countless sports injuries during her athletic career, Maria developed an appreciation for physiotherapy and was inspired to become a therapist herself. She has always loved interacting with a diverse group of people each day and is passionate about helping individuals find their best path to recovery. It is incredibly rewarding and fulfilling to celebrate clients returning to the activities they love. Maria feels passionately about accessibility to care for all individuals and has gained significant experience early in her career working with seniors and accommodating individuals requiring in-home treatment. She enjoys treating a variety of injuries and conditions, but has a particular interest in sport physiotherapy, and conditions of the pelvis, hip and knee. She utilizes an active approach to treatment through education, hands-on techniques and exercise programming that is customized for each client. Maria remains active in the sports community she loves by coaching basketball, competing in several sports and working as a trainer for the St. Vital Mustangs Football Club. Outside of work you will find Maria chasing after her young son, spending time with family or friends and loudly cheering them as they compete in their sports or other activities. She loves hosting summer barbecues, dancing, singing, and spending time actively outdoors.

Sarah Tessier, R.M.T.

Massage Therapist

Outside of work Sarah has a passion for having an active lifestyle, volunteering, traveling to new countries as well as spending time with family and friends.  Sarah’s professional goals in 2019 are to continue building her practice as well as furthering her education in treatment for pain management and musculoskeletal injuries.

Education:

  • Graduated from Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapies in June 2011 and has been practicing for over 8 years. Currently a part time instructor at Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapies.
